Creative Art Workshop Explores Filmmaking and Storytelling

Dimapur, February 21, 2025 – The Creative Art Workshop, organized by the Department of English in collaboration with the Writer’s Club, was held at Lorin Hall, Tetso College, bringing together students and aspiring filmmakers for an insightful session on the art of filmmaking.

Tiakumzuk Aier, a renowned filmmaker and director of Dreamz Unlimited, led the workshop, sharing his experiences and perspectives on storytelling through cinema. Aier, known for addressing social issues through films, plays, and satire, won the Best Director Golden Calton Award in 2017 for his critically acclaimed film "Nana – A Tale of Us."

During the session, Aier detailed his filmmaking journey, beginning with his involvement in a drama club, leading to his first film, "Life Rewind" (2012), followed by "The Wake Up Call" (2014), which drew inspiration from Hollywood. He also discussed the production process of his latest film, "Yong," released on January 9, 2025.

The workshop covered the various stages of filmmaking, from pre-production to post-production, emphasizing the power of visual storytelling. Aier highlighted the significance of creative freedom for film editors and addressed the challenges faced by Nagaland’s local film industry, particularly the lack of theatres.The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students actively participated, seeking insights into the filmmaking process.
